Busão das Artes is an itinerant exhibition that travels around the squares of Rio de Janeiro to share, through art and science, the diversity that exists in every person. Planned stops include Praça Mauá, Madureira Park and Praça Santos Dumont. The exhibition has been designed with an educational program that welcomes municipal and private schools in two shifts a day, as well as spontaneous visitors. The aim of Busão Arte & Ciência is to open up possibilities for understanding the infinitesimal dimensions of the universe of bacteria through experiments created by visual artists Vik Muniz, Jaider Esbell, Suzana Queiroga and Walmor Corrêa. The exhibition is a way of presenting these multiple beings that make up, with us, what each of us is. The central concept is, therefore, the recognition that we belong externally to an ecosystem, and are internally an ecosystem. The initiative has two strands: an environmental one, which deals with bacteria and their role in our ecosystem; and a scientific one, which addresses our knowledge of the human organism. Those who go to 'Busão' discover, with a dash of humor, that there are more than a quadrillion bacteria on Earth, of which 100 billion inhabit the human body, and 99.99% have not even been discovered yet.
