03/03/2010 — 04/11/2010
Caixa Cultural Brasília, DF
Cuban Posters – A Look at World Cinema brought to Brazil a selection of 80 posters produced between the 1960s and the early 1990s by the ICAIC [Cuban Arts and Film Institute]. Traveling to Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Curitiba, the exhibition showcased the work of 12 renowned designers, including Azcuy, Bachs, Dámian, Dimas, Julio Eloy, Niko, Reboiro, and Raul Martinez. These posters were created not only for postrevolutionary Cuban films but also for productions from East Europe, North America, and Brazil, including designs for films by Glauber Rocha and Julio Bressane. The exhibition aimed to acquaint visitors with this important period in the cultural history of post-1959 Cuba by way of the visual identity of cultural communications.
