Set up at the pillars of the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro (MAM-RJ) during the first week of December 2010, the installation O Sonho de Darcy Darcy’s Dream] is the artist Jum Nakao’s tribute to the anthropologist, thinker and professor Darcy Ribeiro. The work was part of the series of events Brasilidade [Brasility], sponsored by the Ministry of Culture (MinC) Hanging from the ceiling until nearly touching the ground, a fishing net containing nine thousand transparent inflatables at different heights, constituted the work. Each inflatable carried one word of the essay O Povo Brasileiro [The Brazilian People], by Darcy Ribeiro. The public could simultaneously hear fragments of Darcy’s statement in many voices representative of the plurality of the Brazilian people through speakers which were spread around the hall.
