Present Future Performance  I
2008

Present Future Performance was an interdisciplinary event dedicated to the multiplicity of performance art and its integration with technological and scientific resources, seen in some of today's performance production. Tools such as image recording and projection, sound amplification, telepresence acts and surgical interventions manipulate the components of works of art, which are ephemeral by nature, extending the artist's body, rearranging narratives and temporalities in what is considered to be live and in-person art by principle. The event brought together artistic research and new works in which science and technology are present as a foundation and not just as a fetish. The proposals exhibited over these three days were the result of the artists' desire to understand our post-organic humanity in the midst of a world that wants to be more technological, but which also needs to recover its natural harmony in order to guarantee permanence for man, a voracious animal that creates and destroys. For three days, the fourth floor of Oi Futuro hosted live actions, performance videos and lectures by artists who, supported by various technologies, elucidated on human daily life in urban environments, which today are totally permeated by mechanical, electronic and digital resources.
